St. Nicholas' Cathedral The church dates from 
the 14th and 15th centuries. 
Originally the parish 
 church of Newcastle upon Tyne, 
St Nicholas' became 
a cathedral in 1882.
The two hundred feet high 
lantern tower is its most 
outstanding feature.
